Gastroenterology: diagnosis & treatment
Assessment and treatment of disorders of the oesophagus, stomach, intestines, liver, bile ducts and pancreas.
Prevention & screening
Colorectal cancer screening, preventive colonoscopy and individual counselling for an increased personal or family risk.
Gastroscopy
Examination of the oesophagus, stomach and duodenum, including biopsies and treatment of bleeding or mucosal lesions.
Colonoscopy
Examination of the entire large bowel to investigate symptoms and for bowel cancer screening, with polyp removal in the same examination.
Interventional endoscopy
Endoscopic treatment of more complex findings such as larger or difficult-to-reach polyps, mucosal lesions and strictures, without surgery.
Endoscopic ultrasound · EUS
High-resolution ultrasound from the inside to assess the pancreas, bile ducts and the wall of the digestive tract, with targeted biopsy when needed.
ERCP
Endoscopic treatment of disorders of the bile ducts and pancreatic duct, such as bile duct stones, strictures or impaired drainage.
Abdominal ultrasound
Ultrasound assessment of the liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, pancreas and other abdominal organs, right there in the consultation.
Sedation and hospital-based care
Endoscopic procedures are performed in a hospital setting, so full infrastructure is available at all times.
- Specialist anaesthesiologist. Sedation is always provided by an anaesthesiologist, with continuous monitoring.
- General anaesthesia when needed. For longer or more complex procedures, when medically appropriate.
- Hospital admission possible. When indicated, with further inpatient monitoring.
